KETCHIKAN TEACHERS & DISTRICT REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

 After two and a half days of bargaining, the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District and the Ketchikan Education Association TeacherÕs Union agreed to a tentative three-year deal. The agreement includes a 4 percent salary increase in each year of the contract. See news release here:

WASILLA MOURNS SCIENCE TEACHER

 News that Jennifer Van Ausdal, a Òcomplete educatorÓ at Wasilla High School, had died in a traffic accident early Sunday swept within hours via text messages and phone calls through the student body, faculty and staff. The 1993 graduate of Wasilla High returned to teach science classes at her alma mater, and in the words of one administrator, Òhad a heart for kids.Ó See full story here:
