SPELLINGS ANNOUNCES UNIFORM GRADUATION REPORTS

 Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings announces that she will take administrative steps to ensure all states use the same formula to calculate how many students graduate from high school on time, and how many drop out. See news release here:

 The likelihood that a ninth-grader in one of the nationÕs biggest cities will clutch a diploma four years later amounts to coin toss – not much better than a 50-50 chance, new research finds. Cross into the suburbs and the odds improve dramatically. See full story here:

ANCHORAGE VOTERS APPROVE $43.7 MILLION IN SCHOOL BONDS

 Anchorage voters gave a big thumbs up to the city and school districtÕs bond propositions on election day Tuesday. Included in the $102.7 million total were $43.7 million to repair area schools. See full story here:
