A FIELD OF DREAMS IN THE FAR NORTH

Grass doesnÕt grow easily at the top of the world. Last year, the Barrow High School football team played its home games on a field of gravel. GERMAN IMMERSION SCHOOL A FIRST FOR ALASKA

When Davina Sunkel heard a German school was about to open in Anchorage, she and her husband didnÕt waste much time. I couldnÕt do it alone. I wasnÕt going to miss this chance.Ó Many parents who showed up Wednesday for the opening of Rilke charter school, AlaskaÕs first German immersion program, had the same idea.
