ANCHORAGE SD CALLS ON LEGISLATURE TO ADDRESS PERS-TRS

 The Anchorage School Board approved a resolution on Monday, Sept. 25, asking the Legislature to address a crisis looming in the state retirement systems. The resolution says that at a minimum funding for the increase in TRS and PERS be approved in January, 2007, and a longer-term solution be found by next May.  See more information here:

SPELLINGS BACKS IDEAS TO SIMPLIFY COLLEGE CHOICES

 Education Secretary Margaret Spellings launched plans Tuesday to redefine the college experience, promising less confusion and more results for families. Chief among them is the creation of a massive information-sharing system, requiring greater review of colleges and a vast data collection on individual students. See full story here:
