District Overview
The Dillingham City School District is located at the extreme northern end of Nushagak Bay in the Bristol Bay region about 327 air miles southwest of Anchorage.  Dilllingham is the gateway city to the Tikchik State Part, the largest state park in the nation today.  The city proclaims to be the Sockeye Salmon Capitol!  The district serves 536 students in pre K-12.  The district is proud of its emerging alternative high school and partnership with the local University of Alaska branch campus, both designed to better meet the needs of its diverse student population.


Mission of District

The Dillingham City School District works in partnership with the whole community to educate our students to be responsible citizens and reach their full potential.


Objectives

• 100% of our students will achieve proficiency on the HSGQE by the end of Grade 10.

• 100% of our students will achieve proficiency on the 3rd, 5th and 8th grade SBA.

• All graduates who pursue post secondary training will meet entry level requirements.

• Dillingham City School District will achieve 90% average monthly student attendance.

 
Strategies and Actions

Strategy #1: Dillingham City School District will continue to develop a K-14

curriculum that is aligned to Alaska State Grade Level Expectations and Performance Standards.

Objective 1: Continue the process for review and update of the Dillingham City School District math and language arts curriculum and establish a process for science using dedicated in-service days and/or extra duty days.

Objective 2: Seek other funding for curriculum and professional development.

Objective 3: Develop a five-year plan for staff development.

 

Strategy #2: Dillingham City School District will renovate, maintain, and repair its K-12 facilities.

Objective 1: Internally assess facility needs.

Objective 2: Continue to seek other funding for facilities.

Objective 3: Promote and pass a GO bond to improve our facilities.

 

Strategy #3: Dillingham City School District will continue to promote responsible social behavior.

Objective 1: Examine existing data on social behaviors and collect feedback from

stakeholders.

Objective 2: Implement ways to achieve responsible social behavior.

 

Strategy #4: Dillingham City School District will develop a teacher recruitment and retention plan.
