Bruce Johnson

Bruce has spent the past 20 years in Alaska serving in a variety of leadership roles, including superintendencies in Juneau, Kodiak Island, and the state operated residential high school located in Sitka. Prior to coming to Alaska, Bruce started his education career as a teacher in Fargo, North Dakota and served as a principal and assistant superintendent in the suburbs of Chicago during the 70s and early 80s.
Before joining the Association of Alaska School Boards as Director of Quality Schools/Quality Students, Bruce served as Alaskas deputy commissioner of education for two years. His work with the Association of Alaska School Boards finds him traveling extensively in rural Alaska in an effort to promote locally owned school and district improvement for the benefit of student learning. He also partners with the Executive Director of AASB as an advocate and lobbyist on behalf of public schools and Alaskas children.
Bruce and his wife, Catherine, reside in Juneau with their 13-year-old daughter, Megan.

Sally Rue

The strength of AASBs administrative staff continues to grow in experience and credibility with Sally Rue filling the position of Director of Alaska Initiative for Community Engagement. Many AASB members are acquainted with Sally, who served two terms on the Juneau School Board and also as a member of the State Board of Education. She brings a wealth of knowledge of school boards, AASB and Alaska K-12 education from that experience. She was strongly supportive of AASBs child advocacy/asset building focus throughout her board experience. Most recently Sally was Chief of Staff for Lt. Governor Fran Ulmer until the change in state administration. |

Timi Tullis

Timi Tullis, M.A. Education, has worked with youth and adults alike helping them enjoy life by finding what motivates them and encouraging them to follow their dreams. As a university adjunct professor and as Director of Residence Life, Timi has lived and worked in university residence halls for 14 years, giving her the opportunity to motivate student success daily. She has led the Alaska ICE Resiliency in Residence Life Project for the past two years, helping to incorporate the Asset Framework into Alaska's boarding high schools and university residence halls.

André Layral, M. Ed, is a former teacher, middle school principal and community engagement coordinator. He assists schools, non-profits and community program leaders to identify current practices, activities, programs and policies that promote Asset Building. André is a past president of the Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP), the Alaska Council of School Administrators (ACSA), was selected as Fairbanks' Secondary Principal of the Year in 1996, and received the AASSP Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
