District Overview
The Wrangell School District is located on Wrangell Island, 90 miles north of Ketchikan, near the mouth of the Stikine River.  The District serves 442 students in 3 school facilities in the heart of the community.  Wrangell’s economy has historically been based on wood products and the fishing industries.  Tourism continues to play an increasing role during the summer months as visitors come to experience the natural beauty and rich Tlingit culture of the area.



Mission of District
The Wrangell Public Schools will provide an educational environment which encourages all students to excel to their potential and feel empowered as responsible contributing citizens.



Strategic Plan Objectives
100 percent of our students will graduate and/or successfully complete their individual achievement program.

All students will have a nurturing positive role model in their lives.

All children reading independently by the end of 2nd grade.

#1:  adopt a plan of continuous progress as it relates to curriculum and instruction.
