District Overview
The Yupiit School District, serving the villages of Akiachak, Akiak, and Tuluksak, is located along the Kuskokwim River northeast of Bethel.  428 students are served in the three K-12 school sites.  The district’s work is guided by Yuuyaraq – We, the Yupiit, are raised according to the ancient directions of our forefathers.  We love one another; our belief is strong; and we continue to better our lives.  We know that our way of life is grounded in traditional vales and customs since time immemorial.  Those who follow the teachings of respect understand that everything has a spirit and their rewards of gratitude.  Those who follow the teachings of our ancestors are intelligent, self-assured, and prosperous.



Mission of District
The mission of the Yupiit School District, working with Yuuyaraq as a foundation, is to ensure all children are happy in any environment.



Strategic Plan Objectives
Toprovide every child an opportunity to complete high school and posses theskills needed to pursue further education of their choice.
Topartner with parents and the community to ensure every child becomes awhole person and is a contributing member of society.


Strategic Plan Strategies (Targets)
#1:  To include parents, elders, community organizations and others in making decisions and instructing children.

#2:  To eliminate boundaries that prohibit us from educating all school age children.

#3: To focus school and community resources so that pre K-3rd grade students are academically at grade level.
